We’re still finding endless things to keep up productive and entertained while staying safer at home. Check out the October 2020 edition of “What We’re Spacing Out to.”
Save Yourselves! might just be one of my favorite movies of the year. It'll make you cringe while forcing you to acknowledge your own tech addition. It'll make you laugh while simultaneously saying "that was so dumb" (perhaps my favorite type of humor!). And it will make you question all your current desires to unplug, logoff and get the eff out of the city.
I'm spacing out to the wind. Anyone remember the wind? The way it blew across our planet with ease? The smells it carried from the bakeries and BBQ shacks nearby? The way it felt blowing through your hair during that dusk concert at Red Rocks, with the stars just coming into sight in the night sky? Absolute Perfection. Well I can't smell anything in this house! Just the air from yesterday. Please Covid... please, just please.
In an attempt to at least delineate the passage of time while stuck inside, I'm revisiting an old craft pal: embroidery. Stocked up on hoops and floss, I'm delving back into the strange life of thimbles, seam rippers, and crane-shaped scissors. The frustrating perfection of a french knot, untangling thread, and finding lost needles; but ultimately the reward of a tiny piece of art, a gift for a friend, or an angry mess thrown out in disgust.
Currently spacing out to....the news! And then quickly followed by a calming yoga + meditation session to recalibrate from all of the chaos. 😂
