Summer is finally here! And that means more daylight hours to spend on our obsessions! Check out what our folks have been geeking over this month in the June edition of “What We’re Spacing Out to.”
I've been a musician from the age of four. From then until now I've learned to play the piano, guitar, drums, bass, harmonica, spoons, and a little harp. Because I've learned nothing new in the past decade or so, I decided to pick up a new instrument, the Japanese Shinobue Flute. After just a few lessons, I've ordered some bamboo fountains for the backyard and...the neighbors are going to love all of this, I'm sure!
Learning a new language for anyone is hard, but especially so for an adult with a degree in English and a penchant for grammar rules. However, I've found DuoLingo to be a simple, fun and, most importantly, effective way to learn and practice a new language. I actually enjoy doing my Spanish lessons every day--currently on 48 day streak and nearing level 500!
A whopping 15 years late to the party, I'm finally watching "Deadwood" the series. Politics, prospecting, poker, prostitutes, pretty prose, and plenty of expletives - I'll refrain from swearing here, but feel free to ask about my E.B. Farnum and Calamity Jane impressions in person.
I'm currently spacing out to Michelle Obama's book, "Becoming." I highly recommend the audio book--she narrates it!
These days I'm all about travel. For work and for pleasure. No sooner do I land than I'm planning my next adventure!
