Check out the books, music and shows keeping the Interstellar crew informed and entertained this month in the February 2020 edition of “What We’re Spacing Out to.”
"You shall ride eternal. Shiny, and chrome." I binged the first season of Rust Valley Restorers on Netflix. The show follows Mike, his son, and his best friends as they try to bring to life over 400 antique cars and trucks that have accumulated on Mike's property over the years. The series has plenty of rust, pipes, smoke, chrome, and heart.
I've been listening to Orville Peck's album Pony nonstop for weeks. This mysterious, fringe-faced Lone Ranger croons, warbles and yeehaws his way through songs about heartache, running from the law, and the restless life of a cowboy/musician. If you love country music, and even if you think you hate it, check out Peck. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The plot thickens! This month, I'm back to more classics that passed me by. I'm diving in, deerstalker hat first, to the complete Sherlock Holmes canon. I'm starting at the top with A Study in Scarlet and hope to have fully honed my detective skills by Spring. In the meantime, Dr. Watson is a lovely companion and witty narrator who I am very much enjoying my evenings with.
I'm currently spacing out to Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. It's a great read on mindfulness and leadership!
