Have you reached the end of Netflix and need something new to entertain and ease your mind?! Check out these top picks from Interstellar crew in the April 2020 edition of “What We’re Spacing Out to.”
With all that's going down these days, finding the right tone of entertainment can be tough. Enter a blast from the past, Words With Friends! Modern-day Scrabble isn't an emotional journey by any stretch, more of a mind-numbing pleasure. Simplicity in life, that's what I'm spacing out on now! And seeing Aron & Alysha's little one on our video calls, nothing like the smile of a baby to set your heart and mind at ease!
After sitting on my library waitlist for nearly six months, it was finally my turn to borrow Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! This novel tells the story of a 70s rock band, using interview-style narrative to provide an intimate and oftentimes contradictory perspective on their rise to fame, song-writing process, personal relationships, and struggles with sobriety.
Because I'm fairly confident that there other Tiger King obsessions this month (and rightfully so), I'm going with the best/worst idea I may have ever had in rereading The Grapes of Wrath. Not only a disturbing look into our current climate (minus the dust), but also a handy guide to new Spam recipes you may not have thought of while cleaning out your pantry. Surprisingly, it's been a comfort and I fully recommend it.
I am currently spacing out to Tara Brach meditations on YouTube. I highly recommend her most recent guided meditation called Bringing RAIN to Fear, which is her response to COVID-19. It's very calming and introspective!
